USPHL Elite Players Of The Week: South Region

Florida Division 

Forward: Robert Sheets, Tampa Bay Juniors 

Sheets (‘05/Scottsdale, Ariz.) has posted five points in five Elite games and also had three games up with the Juniors’ Premier team already as a junior rookie. He posted two third period goals, including a shorthanded goal, in the Juniors’ 5-1 win on Oct. 8. 

 

Defense: Conner Johnston-Ferris, Tampa Bay Juniors 

An ‘04 out of Florida’s own East Lake High School (in nearby Tarpon Springs), Johnston-Ferris registered his first junior goal in the 5-1 win over Columbia on Oct. 8, and that single marker was also a shorthanded goal, one of two for his team that day. 

 

Goaltender: Daniel Van Brunt, Columbia Infantry 

Technically today a member of the Palm Beach Typhoon, Van Brunt (‘05/Smithtown, N.Y.) stopped 67 of 69 shots (plus two of three in the shootout) to help the first-year Infantry defeat the Tampa Bay Juniors in a 3-2 shootout win on Sunday. He stands at 3-0-1-0 with a .942 save percentage early on. 

 

Southeast Division 

Forward: Wesley Wilding, Richmond Generals

Wilding (‘04/London, Ont.) had a very productive day in the Generals’ weekend at the Rockets Hockey Club Showcase. He posted a pair of goals and added three assists for five points in the three games. Wilding has 12 points in eight Elite games and he’s played in four Premier games as well, earning three points. 

 

Defense: Colby Markham, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

Markham, an ‘05 blueliner, earns his second Players Of The Week nod after helping the Jr. Canes to a weekend sweep of the Charlotte Rush. 

 

Goaltender: Tristan Falsetto, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

On Sunday, the veteran Falsetto (‘02/West Palm Beach, Fla.) stopped 35 of 36 shots to defeat the Rush on Oct. 9. An alternate captain for the Jr. Canes, Falsetto has put up a 3-1-0-0 with a .944 save percentage and two shutouts already.
