Florida Division
Forward: Sean Boltin, Palm Beach Typhoon
The ‘05 out of Chicago, Ill., was absolutely menacing to opposition defenses, putting up nine points in the four games at the Southeast Showcase. Now with 11 points, he has pushed himself into the top 10 of Elite scoring out of nowhere. His overall line for the event was 3-6-9.
Defense: Justin Deshaies, Florida Eels
Deshaies (‘04/Amos, Que.) put up a game-winning goal and two assists for three points in four games, and was also a +4 on the defensive side. His late goal in regulation helped the Eels push past a powerful Charlotte Rush squad.
Goaltender: Dylan Bruce, Tampa Bay Juniors
Bruce went 1-1, but his best performance may have been his “no decision” in which he stopped all 29 shots faced in relief in an eventual 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes. In his two other games, the ‘05 from Kitchener, Ont., gave up 23 of 24 shots and 21 of 24 shots. All told, he had a showcase total of 73 saves on 77 shots, for a save percentage of .948.
Southeast Division
Forward: Tyler Tonucci, Charlotte Rush
Tonucci registered points in all four Southeast Showcase games, putting up three goals (including the game-winner in the finale against Tampa Bay) and adding four assists. The ‘05 out of Buffalo, N.Y. leads the Rush with 11 points in seven contests.
Defense: Colby Markham, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes
Markham, an ‘05 defenseman and a lifelong Jr. Cane, was absolutely staggering at the Southeast Showcase. He led all skaters by more than 10 minutes total in ice time over the four games, averaging nearly 22 minutes per game. Along with two goals and three assists, and blocked five shots.
Goaltender: Jacob Sanders, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes
A third-year USPHL veteran, Sanders got his first two starts of the season at the showcase in Chesapeake, Va. He registered one shutout and in his other game, he gave up just one goal to a very strong Florida Eels team.
